Our story
Intaglio Printmaker opened in London in 1981 and based at Playhouse Court, Southwark since the early 1990s. After 40 years developing Intaglio Printmaker as the authority on printmaking products, the two owners Karyn White (an artist originally from Australia) and her friend Christine Munton retired. In the summer of 2022, Annabel Rooker and Bruce Haines became Intaglio’s new owners. Both art school graduates (albeit a very long time ago!), Annabel has over 20 years experience in the book design and publishing industry, while Bruce was a public-sector curator and commercial gallery owner for many years, and is a founding Trustee of the Li Yuan-chia Foundation.
The business
Intaglio Printmaker continues to supply an unparalleled range of printmaking materials sourced worldwide. We are always researching new products in this ever-expanding market. In our central London ‘shop’ is a small, enthusiastic and experienced team of practising painter-printmakers. Here you’ll find expert advice from our staff and be able to test tools and products first-hand. Intaglio Printmaker prides itself on being actively involved with printmaking in all its analogue manifestations. Through repeat interaction with the country’s leading printmakers, it remains at the forefront of its field today. In the spirit of 17th-century printmaking activities, an eponymous imprint was launched by Intaglio Printmaker in December 2023. For more info:
