Holly Wood Shapes

Holly wood is a beautiful engraving wood, and these blocks are from a holly tree in Cherryburn, the birthplace of wood engraver Thomas Bewick (1752-1828). Considered a weed by tree surgeons, Holly wood is almost impossible to buy from timber merchants as it is so awkward to season. We are really lucky to have it when we do.
