Puretch 2X

Puretch2X printmaking film for photo etching copper plate in ferric chloride.
61 cm x 3m
Photo-etching is a time tested technique, and can be virtually non-toxic without compromising resolution, plate durability and traditional plate manipulation. This PURETCH 2X film requires approximately 2X or double the exposure of the original film it replaces to obtain the same results as the before.
Details: Puretch is the thinnest dry film photoresist for etching copper and other metals which yields the highest resolution etching possible with a dry film; the thinner the film the higher the resolution. It is ideal for high resolution halftone positives and fine line etch applications such as digitally generated ink jets and laster printed half tones.. Puretch is for the intaglio printmaking purist that wants to traditionally etch the image and have complete control over the plate surface and edition. If an aquatint is required it can be applied traditionally over top of the developed film or with a separate exposure to an aquatint screen.
Method: Puretch laminates with distilled water and squeegee. Expose film with a UV point light in a vacuum frame for best results. The exposed film is developed in a 1% soda ash solution. Etch copper plates with ferric chloride. The film can be stripped from the etched plate with a dilute NaOH solution and the plate can be reworked with any traditional process.
This film is 61cm x 3m and comes 12 microns thick.
Stouffer testing is recommended. The film thickness, length and resolution is the same, 12 microns, 61cm x 3m.
Detailed instructions are included with the film and are here.
