Please note: our Hosho Rolls are slightly heavier weight and more textured than before. The paper has a more natural tone(not high white), with a reduced bleed (especially for calligraphy and ink drawings) and a beautifully tactile surface. Still with one slightly smoother side for printing.

While the previous versions may have had a crisper finish for fine printing, the new rolls offer a richer handmade feel and continue to respond beautifully to dampening techniques. This Japanese paper is tear-resistant making it ideal for woodblock printing.

Note that due to rising production costs in Japan and the historic low of the Yen, prices have risen considerably across all Japanese papers, though we believe Hosho Rolls still offer good value and great quality especially as the sizes remain the same.

Long recognised by printmakers as one of the most versatile Japanese papers. Hosho is made from 100% alpha cellulose.
